Hot Wheels 6 Car Cases - Dollar Ish Tree Scores

I found these while hunting at a Dollar Ish Tree, $1.25 each, holds 6 cars as stated on the case art! More durable than the clear Turbo Wheels version, the inner partitions do not come apart and appear to be thicker in that area. They are black, like most cases they sell are, so you cant view what is inside unless you open it. There are holes on the back, to hang on a wall perhaps, however they are at the "bottom" of the backside if you stand it up as normal with art right side up. I saw 3 designs, all are "fantasy/HW's designs, I picked these 2, the Rodger Dodger and Night Shifter.  

 

Besides cars, these would be great to store parts of cars, wheels, screws for bases and decals even. I most likely will grab a few more at some point, they fit the same as the Turbo Wheels version in the Sterelite mini crates that I use for general storage of cars. Now, if they are going to make these opaque, maybe we will see orange and blue at some point?

'08 Lancer Evolution - 56.9g

 

The Lancer Evo is weighing in at 56.9g's and that is pretty good for not adding any ballast. If I were to do this build again, JB Weld around the font post would be the way to go, then drill and tap it where the base hole is. The magnet works great though, just a hassle to do right. Overall I am happy with the blacked out privateer look and next a quick photo box shoot, then into the shipping protector and Saturday it will depart for the Summer Rally Series!

Paint Day For The Lancer Evolution!

 Paint day! 3 coats of black, next a quick shot of clear, then numbers and 2 more coats of the clear... I am pretty happy so far and as soon as it can go back together, it is getting weighed and all the proper forms filled out, address given the once over twice and then Saturday the 15th it will be in the mail and on the way to the Summer Rally Series!

Getting the Lancer ready for paint and magnet fitment, red interior with a black dash, blue steering wheel for good luck. It has yet to weigh in, but it feels like a tank! No weight will be needed.

 Had to tip toe into Discord this afternoon and the first thing I see is a screenshot a "collector" posted for an offer on 5 Car Culture chase cars they have on a selling site... 

And about 6 entries below the "collector", another guy is crying about a "scalper" who was bragging out in the streets...

I never scored the $TH of the Tooned TV Series Batmobile, but a couple of days ago I scored this one minus the side graphics while going through 2 shippers that had just got put out. No $TH's or even a regular TH, but the Tooned TV Series with no side tampos is about the same for me!

Mail Call!

I got some stuff in the mail and some are cars I could not score here and a friend in Illinois scored the Porsche mail in for me, I sent the cash and she bought the cars! I kept the licensed cars and 1 HW's design that is an Oldsmobile modified, the rest I let her keep for her grandsons. The while she was waiting for delivery of the Porsche, she flew to Pennsylvania to visit relatives and hit their local Walmart and that is where she scored me 2 Plumber Van's from the Super Mario Bros. movie! This was a most righteous box!!!

Collecting VS Scalping

 Recently I was asked where to go for info on collecting cars and to meet "like minded" peoples and immediately I discouraged the HW's forum and Discord and pointed out 2 collector groups on FB that are 110% anti-scalpers and dedicated to collecting. Now FB, sucks, end of story. However that is where they, the groups are. Now the official forum and Discord, are where you will only find certain info. No matter where you go, it has potential suck involved. The FB groups are the way to go if you simply collect and the out the door worth of the item so you can jam eBay is less. Now if you decide to join Discord or the forum, do not read the utter bullsh*t that pops up as each week adds new people bent on making cash, selling them HW's. It is a meeting place for scalpers and those who want to be the speculators of the scene and by that, use both definitions of the word.

   

Selling cars is what some people do and I even know those who sell while collecting. I have had negative interactions with scalpers in real life and to be honest, they talk the same on Discord and literally do the same thing, with SWAT-ing and bans. Going to great lengths to protect what you do to hustle cash is a sad way to live and it drags others down in the end. The FB groups simply don't put up with scalpers and rip-off artists and celebrate collecting as a whole and you know this by what they post and the comments that follow. One interesting thing to point out, far less people in the FB groups than the Discord and most likely official forum, that speaks volumes. 

Collecting VS scalping, both have their place, one is relaxing, one is chaos in a toilet bowl...
